There are 3 levels of certification. The above-mentioned information is for the on-line Level 1. It is entirely on-line with no on-ice component. There are also Levels 2 and 3. Levels 2 and 3 are done in-person, either in Calgary or by Dr Mike going to a town/city to work 1-on-1, small group, or large group of coaches.
Level 2 – The Coaches Model: Information about coaching, teaching, demonstrating drills/skills, keeping words to a minimum, creating ideal teaching/learning environment, and giving feedback (the most important variable in teaching and learning). Classroom and on-ice learning.
Level 3 – Review the other 26 game-performance skating characteristics, ie: turning, backward skating, pivots, acceleration, etc. Review how to perform each skating skill, watch NHL or elite females perform these skating skills, and review drills to work on these skills.
